Collins Community CU has only been live on Shared Branching for a few months, and already they are seeing the positive impact it makes in member's lives.
Tommy Snell, Member Service Consultant Supervisor at Collins wrote to share a recent experience with us. You may find it interesting:
"Everyone likes to share a great experience, especially when it’s an experience that re-energizes you.
Today I had a husband and wife come in to close their SD Box and all 5 of their accounts, [because they were moving to Texas from Iowa]. The first question I asked was if they already had accounts set up in Texas to move all of their funds. When they told me, “Nope, it was like seeing a 78 MPH fastball right down the middle of the plate. I grabbed my knowledge bat, which is stashed away in my knowledge vault, and hit a 5 account saving grand slam.
I began talking to them about all the services we can provide at home here in Cedar Rapids and at their new home in Texas. The members told me they do a lot of their banking online, and from there I knew the only paperwork I had to do today was to close the Safe Deposit box.
We talked about shared branching and I showed them the website and smart phone apps to find ATMs and branch locations so they could conduct basic transactions. We also talked about mobile deposit, viewing multiple accounts on their CU online, renaming accounts on their CU online, eStatements, EMP devices, how to properly prepare a gecko for moving across the country, and the hotels with the best breakfast buffets. One of the last things I told about was how to change their address online.
The members also left with my business card so they can call me direct for any consumer loans, and of course I’ll follow this up with personalized card."
Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, you read that right...a gecko.
This is the difference between credit unions and banks, right here. Thanks Tommy for sharing, and if any of you have a feel-good story to tell, please email email@example.com to be featured in our next newsletter.]]>

By now, you have probably heard we are offering Accounting Services. But why would you need them? Well, have you ever lost an employee (or two, or three) and been scrambling to replace him/her? Have your books ever been a mess? (We won't tell). Have you ever been confused? Stressed? Worked till 9pm trying to get accounting done and then ordered greasy Chinese?
If yes to any of these, as well as a variety of other scenarios, then our Accounting Service may be right for you. If you have never experienced any of the above, then feel free to ignore the following message.
By Doug Burke, President/CEO
Our goal is to develop and offer an Accounting Services solution that meets a wide range of accounting needs for credit unions from special projects to full service accounting. Our Philosophy and Value Proposition is to provide:
Since the product introduction less than a year ago, CUSN has assisted credit unions with the following:
- Access to qualified employees with a variety of skill sets
- Access to sophisticated technologies and systems
- Increased employee depth and back up
- Improved internal controls and separation of duties
- High quality services at a competitive price
We are continuing to build the foundation of our service with additional staff, including recruiting a CFO in the next few months. Once the new CFO position is on board, CUSN will have the depth and breadth of staff to handle most accounting situations.
What do our credit unions have to say about Accounting services?
"It is my pleasure to recommend the Accounting Services team at CU Service Network. During the last several months, the Accounting department at Red Rocks Credit Union has used CUSN to handle multiple tasks including support during our conversion to CUProdigy, ACH and Draft exception processing, as well as daily balancing for out ATM, Shared Branch, and Mobile banking products.
We have found the Accounting Services group at CUSN to be efficient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. They have communicated with Red Rocks staff through regular phone calls, emails, progress reports, and occasional meetings.
We look forward to an ongoing relationship with CU Service Network and their Accounting Services group."
- Russ Dalke, CFO, Red Rocks Credit Union]]>
- Special projects
- Daily, weekly and monthly balancing
- Added accounting depth during core system conversions
