Message from the President/CEO, Doug Burke By Doug Burke, President/CEO of CUSN Approximately 18 months ago, CUSN made a strategic change to become more aggressive in our research and development endeavors. We wanted to continue seeking out new products, but more importantly, tailor and focus the efforts toward collaborative services. So far this year CUSN has introduced the following Back Office Solutions: • Accounting • IT Core system through a partnership with CU Prodigy Additionally, as we have previously reported, a detailed analysis of IT Support services is being researched and should be available before year end. We are also launching services under the new heading Member Financial Solutions. Starting in August we introduced or will be introducing the following services: • Insuritas – a member property and casualty insurance service • Save Daily – a member mutual fund service for small investors • emagineIF – a social media based financial literacy program We are excited about the product announcements CUSN has made this year, but our work is not done! DP Update: Is Your Data Processor Ready to Go?

Posted On: September 08, 2014
September 2014
DP CO-OP Shared Branching Network Enhancements To fully align CO-OP Shared Branching networks, the Extended ISO-8583 specification is now integrated into one uniform standard format to better enhance the experience provided to all guest members. The enhancements create a unique format for CO-OP Financial Service participants to ensure that cross-organizational products are available to all clients at a lower cost. Effective September 8, 2014, all third party data processors with credit unions connected to CO-OP Shared Branching are expected to accept the first set of items in the extended ISO format (see below). Please click here to download the full form, including a table of DP enhancements. If you have questions, please contact Effective June 29, 2015 all third-party data processors with credit unions connected to the CO-OP Shared Branching network are expected to accept the remainder of the items in the extended ISO format. The update will assist credit unions and vendors across the Network in resolving previous “cross networkâ€? productive issues, hence the timing. It will position the network to deliver consistent product and service experiences to data processors, credit unions and their members. This enhancement is also expected to create efficiencies within the data processors, as they will need only one standard format across the network. ]]>

The Shared Branch Locator Guide has Changed

Posted On: September 08, 2014
September 2014
locator Remember when the shared branching locator guide changed last August of 2013? And we all had to update URLs on our "find a shared branch button"? Well, it changed again! Now you can have even more practice updating URLs, just in case you are rusty. The new locator website is: Please change the old locator to this new one. You should have some time to spare - from what we understand, the old locator URL will be redirecting indefinitely. However, redirects can often result in broken links and other problems over time, so put it on your to-do list! [polldaddy poll=8284395]]]>

Another New Product: Insuritas - Insurance for Your Members

Posted On: September 08, 2014
September 2014
In part of our new "Member Financial Services" product and service line, we've launched Insuritas, an innovative product that provides insurance for your members. What makes this product so desirable is that it not only adds convenience and value for your membership, just as shared branching does, but it provides fee generating income for your credit union. Take a look below to learn more: Why Insuritas? Insuritas is the nation’s leader in insurance agency outsourcing for financial institutions. You can own a complete insurance agency without the significant capital investments required to build or buy an agency, or the inherent operational risks. Or, you can use our CU Service Network Agency as your insurance solution. Either way, you can feature the auto, home and business insurance that 100% of your members use every day.
 • Comprehensive array of insurance products also includes life, medical, pet, warranty, AD&D, credit life, to name just a few, and all offered through your own branded Insurance Portal
 • The best combination of price, selection and convenience
 • Your insurance agency will operate with your institution’s name, but be located off-site, run by Insuritas
A team of proven sales professionals and strategies, complete back-office services including billing and claims processing, and ongoing access to insurance industry experts is provided. Because of aggregated buying power, you will offer the widest array of products from the nation’s leading carriers that feature great commission rates from the first premium dollar collected. Building Fee Income Selling insurance products allows you to provide all of your members with the high-demand products and services they use today. In addition, auto, homeowners and business insurance have the added benefit of renewing every year and generating an ever-growing fee income stream. We call them the “fee that keeps on giving. Financial institutions are uniquely positioned to offer a great combination of discounted pricing, unparalleled convenience and a broad selection of insurance products. When you make your next loan, don’t send your borrower to the local agency now selling competing loan products, keep your member in your store and deliver the insurance they need.
 • Expand member wallet share and contribute to earnings per share
 • Reduce capital requirements and execution risks
 • Increase barriers to competitive incursions from your competition
